Our History

A dream that grew into a cherished community.

Founded in 1949 as a Day Camp for boys and girls under the direction of Patricia Kehoe and Frank A. France, Kehoe-France began with a dream.

It was a dream that would first take shape at Audubon Park before expanding into the 15 bucolic acres that have become the cherished home of Kehoe-France at 720 Elise Avenue in Metairie, LA.

From Day Camp to School Campus
(1949)

Kehoe-France began in 1949 as a day camp built on a bold dream that required a pioneering spirit. After thousands of truckloads of dirt and the support of a few committed backers during the recession of 1957–58, the first building and pool were completed, and the camp opened on schedule—continuing a tradition that began that very first summer.

Opening Our Doors
(1962)

As the dream expanded, new buildings and improvements were added each year. In 1962, Kehoe-France opened its school program with 42 preschoolers, quickly growing to multiple preschool divisions and eventually adding one grade per year. By 1974, the first eighth-grade class graduated, and in 1996, the school expanded to Covington—now serving over 1,100 students.

Looking to the Future
(2018)

In 2018, Kehoe-France joined the International Schools Partnership, ensuring long-term stability and expanding opportunities for students through campus enhancements and global connections. Staying true to its legacy, Kehoe-France continues to nurture curious, creative, and confident learners in a serene environment grounded in family, community, and joyful learning.

Tomorrow and
Beyond

Kehoe-France’s growth has long been supported by dedicated teachers, loyal families, and eager students, all without reliance on bonds or fundraising. Built on vision, commitment, and community, the school continues to thrive—developing confident learners and leaders in an environment shaped by purpose, character, and connection.
