It was an exciting day at Kehoe-France Southshore last week as our Kindergarten and 1st grade champions met Pierre the Pelican! Thanks to our new partnership with the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans organization, our young learners participated in the remarkable Junior Pelicans FUNdamentals program.
Merging Basketball with Core Values
At its heart, this collaboration isn’t just about hoops and dunks. Through the Jr. NBA’s core principles, the program harmoniously intertwines with Kehoe-France’s mission: nurturing lifelong learning and a robust sense of community.
Five Fundamentals in Focus
Under the guidance of the Pelicans’ skilled staff, our students embraced basketball’s core: dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork. Each lesson seamlessly transitioned from court dynamics to valuable life skills, emphasizing attributes like collaboration and determination.
More than a Game
Beyond the thrill of meeting Pierre and mastering basketball basics, each student left with a personalized certificate from Pierre the Pelican. This memento symbolizes a day filled with joy, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
