KF Students Get Once-in-a-Lifetime Interview with Music Legend Garth Brooks
What makes a great leader? That’s a question Mrs. Blais’ 6th-grade Design class recently found themselves asking as they embarked on a new unit titled “Project Human.”
“Project Human,” the brainchild of Dr. Todd Brown, creator of “The Inspire Project,” centers around empowering youth through discussions about social, emotional, and physical issues at hand within society. Throughout this Design unit, students learned about the importance of empathy in understanding local, national, and even global issues society members face.
This unit also prepared them for a once-in-lifetime interview with legendary multi-platinum solo artist, Mr. Garth Brooks. Watch the full interview on our Facebook page!
Through this reverse Ted-talk approach, students researched various topics. They asked thought-provoking questions about everything from Mr. Brooks’ humble beginnings to his legendary success in the music industry to his different philanthropic causes, including his foundation, “Teammates for Kids,” which relies on a team of professional athletes, celebrities, organizations, and fans to provide for children in need.
Our Kehoe-France Pioneers developed a deeper understanding of how greatness and success often develop from working together, much like Mr. Brooks has done with many people who have helped him throughout his career. His words of wisdom: to be humble, to be grateful, and above all else, to never lose sight of how we should treat those willing to work by our side every day for a common cause, will hopefully be remembered by our students for years to come.
